The school " B.E.College Model School " in true sense was a 'model' in the past , at present it's a model and I am confident that in future it will remain as a " Model ". The small K.G. school which started its journey in 1954 in the noble hands of Mrs.Styenes (wife of the then Head of the Dept. of Architecture Engg) is now metamorphosed into a vibrant institution with academic excellence panning over the lash green campus of B.E. & S.U. The growing interest of the guardians of Howrah sadar area to put their children in this school has helped us to house almost 800 learners at present in comparison to little over 400 in 2007. We are actually walking against the current of scarcity of students in Bengali medium Govt. aided school and that has encouraged the Managing Committee to initiate several face-lifts of the school. The Managing Committee and all my colleagues took an active role to cater the need of growing number of learners for which I must congratulate all of them.
A new building block of approximately 5000 sq. ft with staircase has been built under the generous grants of the " MPLAD " of honble Mr.Swedesh R.Chakraborty and " MLABEUP " of hon\'ble Mr.Krishna Kishore Roy. Another 2500 sq.ft. part of that building which did only have a foundation was also completed in this tenure by the donation of ex-students and well wishers and I must express my deep gratitude to Mr.Subhankar Bandopadhyay and Mr.Tapan Banerjee , both are ex-students who have kept their confidence on me and donate the lion share of the sum for the completion of the unfinished construction .Several furnitures, ceiling fans, electrical gadgets, flash door, black/green boards etc. have been arranged accordingly by the Managing Committee and those were either built or donated by the well wishers, ex-students and guardians which I believe an achievement of all of us. We have recently received a grant under " MLABEUP " scheme of Mr.Brajo Mohan Majumder, Honble M.L.A. of Howrah (South) and completed the construction of 24 pairs of benches using that grant . Earlier a donation from eminent industrialist Mr.Somnath Bhattacharyya have been used to make 36 pairs of benches for the learners. A toilet with most modern facilities for the girl students have also completed under the Govt. grant .The open common passage between the buildings becomes the things of the past as a person interested in education Mr.B.K.Kedia has donated materials costing about Rs. 2 Lakh to build the shade on that common passage in January 2013.The school is presently having a state of the art computer room which will soon be uplifted to an air conditioned Lab and this is going to be reality because of the present guardians. A well equipped library which contains several current collections and is presently run by a part time librarian but we can't get a permanent librarian because of the Govt. rule which is really the ramshackle to manage the library in proper manner. The most modern CCTV surveillance system has been introduced by the courtesy of Mr.M.P.Kedia , well wisher which I believe is a necessity for security and discipline. Therefore, we are marching ahead with our limited resources and on the eve of the diamond jubilee of the school we should take the oath to eradicate all the other sources of stagnation in all the fields for providing a better infrastructure.Our only motto is to propagate proper education through the essential academic and co-curricular activities and to inculcate a sense of ethics amongst the students. I am hopeful that the school will emerge as one of the premier institution of entire Westbengal in future.
